Regarding the exit.com Domain

People still upon occasion send me email expressing their interest in buying the domain exit.com. Yes, I agree that it's a cool name and I'm very happy that I grabbed it in 1994 when it was available. Unfortunately, some people have a hard time taking "no" for an answer. To avoid future misunderstandings and potential disappointments, my standard response to such inquiries follows:

The domain exit.com is not for sale. That being said, I will always consider offers of sufficient magnitude, said magnitude being on the order of middle six figures. I reiterate, however, that exit.com is not for sale. I didn't register it with the idea of selling it, and, as you can plainly see, it is in continuous and growing use. If, after reading this, you still aren't convinced that I won't be blinded by dollar signs after an offer of $150,000 or $250,000, please bear in mind that I turned down just such offers in February and June of 2004. Please, serious inquiries only.

However, I am willing to lease subdomains of exit.com for a reasonable monthly rate. The subdomain would be yours to administer; all I would do would be to maintain a pointer to it in my name server. Naturally, I reserve the name www.exit.com for Exit Consulting, as well as any other names that I already have in use. Additionally, I am adamant that the subdomain be used for ethical, legal and non-pornographic purposes; this would be enforced by a standard acceptable-use policy.
