Support Harry Reid!

John McRory at the Daily Kos urges us to support Harry Reid. Senator Reid is singlehandedly standing up to Frist and the Republican attack on Democrat opposition to the worst of Bush's judicial nominees. I've written my Senators to urge them to support him. You should, too. Here's a copy of my letter:

I'm writing to urge you to support Senator Reid for his 30 hours on the Senate floor. As you know most of the judges who he opposes are very conservative, and are among other things opposed to a woman's right to choose. The Bush administration has stonewalled your colleagues and yourself and the Republicans in the Senate not only support that stonewalling, they seem to think that Democrat opposition to unacceptable nominees is somehow "unfair" and "wrong." Senator Reid is facing them down as I write this.

I strongly urge you to give this man your full and complete support.

Thank you.

You can contact your Senators at the link below. If you have the money (which I do, now that I am again employed), you can also have your message hand-delivered.

Go.

You fucking liberals are all the same. Always blaming America for the world's problems. Your self loathing disgusts me. Why don't you move to Canada you fucking pacifist.

You know, I would normally delete this kind of comment, but I find that this one is a nearly perfect example of its type. It is entirely disconnected from the entry to which it supposedly refers, makes grandiose, sweeping statements for which there isn't even a single shred of evidence, and ends by not only using the word "fucking" but with a personal attack and a demand that I leave the United States.

Well, Whining Dave, it would appear that you have a lot more problems with "America" than I do, it being the place that welcomes those with opinions that you don't like. I urged folks to support a minor hero who in fact serves in the Senate, one of the highest offices in the United States. I also see that the Republicans failed in their effort to intimidate and bully those who oppose them; at a guess, this may be why you're taking pot-shots at me.

Of course, if intimidation and bullying is the kind of leadership you want, well, I would suggest that you might like it better in the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, Stalin died nearly a half a century ago, so you'll have to find somewhere else where you'll feel comfortable.

Quite honestly, I can think of no country on the planet that has quite the level of tyranny that you seem to desire. Since the Soviet Union fell, totalitarianism seems to have fallen a bit out of fashion, even in the "People's Republic" of China. Maybe you can look into buying an island somewhere?

Dave asked you why you're seemingly not planning to move to Canada, Frank. He did not "demand" that you do so. Why do you assume that everyone who offers an opinion different from you is "demanding" that you do something?

As for Mohandas Ghandi, let me ask you this:

Why is it that "tyrants and murderers" "always fall"?

Is it because God miracles them out of power?

Or is it because good people remove them?

Truth and love didn't end the Third Reich, Frank.

At any rate, please come back to 4RWWs and answer the question.

Please.

Good Evening,

Tim

Well, okay, the words were "ask" but the tone was quite certainly "demand."

As to the rest, I don't respond to strawman arguments. Why should I defend Ghandi's words? Seems to me they speak for themselves. I might only add to them a few words uttered by another great man, something about a "tree of liberty" and "the blood of patriots." I put my money where my mouth is. Um, literally, in fact.

Do you?

Sorry, Frank, but that little blurb was from a stalker I seem to have picked up. He's gone to quite a few different blogs and spouted off some foul crap. If you can, see if the IP is 152.163.253.38, since that's the IP of a recent troll we've had problems with.

In any case, it wasn't me.
