This one is hilarious. From TalkLeft: Alabama Legislators Render State's Obscenity Law Illegal. The clause of their obscenity law that bans sex toys has been declared unconstitutional, not once but twice. Because of this, said law is rendered moot, unenforceable. This is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned, since I consider laws banning "obscenity" to be, themselves, obscene. One person's "obscenity" can be and often is another's art.
I particularly like John Roger's shouting at his colleagues after the vote:
"What you just did is make our obscenity law illegal. You voted for obscenity,'' Rogers shouted at lawmakers.
It just couldn't happen to a nicer state. Hee.
