Ed Weathers at the Memphis Flyer has a few things to say about religion. I take it that he's a masochist, because he is bound to receive every kind of abuse for his blunt statements, up to and including death threats.
It just so happens, though, that I agree with him. Wholeheartedly.
The best bit of the whole piece, I think, was this:
I'm very happy to see someone else say publically what I have said many times, both in public and privately. As far as I'm concerned, religion is as necessary to human beings as bicycles are to fish. Or even less.
I doubt, though, that I will be receiving any death threats. There are, what, two or three of you, maybe, reading this thing?

As long as men use GOD and religion as a rational for behavior they can justify treating each other as mere shit.
My God says your god is a crook so therefore I have every right in heaven to smite you and laugh as you rot in hell.
