War

Bomblets.

The LA Times has an article about the continuing contribution the US is making to the quality of life in newly-liberated Iraq: Bombing Ends but Not Danger.

So, basically, the war is still going on. The same ordinance is being used, only it's being used against civilians now.

If another government did this, we would condemn them. When we do this ourselves, do we excuse it? Ignore it? Or make restitution?

Well, with Bush in the White House and the Republicans in control of Congress, I suspect that it'll be some from column A, a whole lot from column B and none at all from column C.

I would love to invite the White House bunch to a casual stroll through some residential areas of Baghdad. Maybe they could see for themselves what it's like to have your leg blown off or to be blinded by an explosion.

Instead, it is the children who suffer.

The British government said one day they might thank us for the unexploded munitions littering their cities.

Well, yeah, we can't have children running around in Iraq with intact legs, hands, eyes and genitalia. They might actually decide to stand on their own or breed or something!
