Not much to say today.
Despite the usual plethora of outrages, I haven't had the energy today to write much about them. Between my frustration with idiots in soc.singles.moderated (Usenet newsgroup), my frustration and anger over the tyranny that is overtaking us, my anger at the fact the troops stood by and let the museums and archives be destroyed in Baghdad while Rumsfeld sneers, and the fact that it's raining outside, I have almost completely exhausted my energy.
Here's some of the stuff I have to do:
- Continue my job search.
- Disassemble my GPS-stabilized oscillator project and move it into the new metal cases to see if that stops the frequency excursions.
- Finish constructing my Soekris Net4501-based GPS NTP time server.
- Work on some of the half-written programs that I have lying around.
- Add an interrupt driver to FreeBSD for the Elan 520 user lines, so I can use them for the PPS input.
- Straighten my office. Again.
And on top of everything else, I'm bummed that Green Hills and Key Research have decided that they don't want to bring me in for an in-person interview. While I'm relatively indifferent to Green Hills, I had hopes for Key Research. Unfortunately, they want someone with more Linux knowledge. (Sigh. This tells me that whoever is doing the choosing doesn't really know what he's doing, since a solid background is much more important than experience with any particular kernel. Someone with a really good background can pick up the new environment on the fly. In fact, no matter the level of experience, one has to pick up the particular environment regardless. Argh.)
I was also contacted yesterday by Paul at the Centerpoint blog about a "Blogger's Initiative." I haven't yet responded even though I think it's a good idea, mostly because I can't be sure my energy level will be up to doing much volunteering, long-term. Even though I know that such volunteering is important and necessary. I try to do what I can, but my circumstances often make it difficult.
So not much today. Just this stream-of-consciousness thing.
