Biased news reporting
Courtesy CNN Online: 'Dirty bomb' suspect awaits attorney visits. The whole article is slanted to make the reader assume that this guy is guilty. It's like McCarthyism all over again. Guilt by accusation.
Jose Padilla has been held without trial, without charge, without access to an attorney, for over ten months. Can you say "violation of constitutional rights?" Padilla is an American citizen. No matter what he might be suspected of, he is at least supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty." But he is being held on the say-so of the Administration, which has termed him an "enemy combatant."
This is why I support impeachment of the President, Vice President, Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General. You should, too.

This is an asinine argument. You don't care about anyone's rights; all you care about is bashing Bush and getting your favorite socialist party back in power. Keep trying...You extreme leftists are the reason this President will be re-elected. You people help mainstream America (that means those of us who are not radical socialists and conspiracy theorists) to understand why "right" is right and "left" is wrong. Thanks, keep up the good work.
I note with interest that you, a "rightist," fail to actually argue any of my real points and instead call the whole thing "asinine" without providing any evidence whatsoever for your opinion. Rather, having no way to argue on the merits of the case, you make an ad hominem attack against me personally. And yet you say that "right is 'right.'" If you are any indication, "right" is stupid. Knee-jerk hyperconservatism for the hard-of-thinking.
It probably won't interest you at all to know that in this particular case, it's not just the "left" that is protesting the Jose Padilla case. Moderates, including moderate Republicans, are doing so as well. If it can happen to Padilla, it can happen to anyone. You included, Mr. "Wertz."
In this case, it isn't about "right" versus "left." It's about "civil rights" versus "tyranny."
You may also be surprised to learn that "mainstream America" is more inclined to agree with the moderates than with the extreme "right," which you seem to represent.
Oh, and as far as the report being biased, that's pretty self-evident, don't you think. It's heavily slanted to make Padilla appear guilty. Meanwhile he sits in a Navy brig, without trial, without representation, without hope of parole, without a single civil right that we as fellow-citizens of the United States take for granted. If you want this kind of government, "Wertz," move to Iran or North Korea. Get out of the way while the rest of us continue to fight Ashcroft and the rest of the gang of thugs in the White House.
