Welcome to Exit Consulting

My name is Frank Mayhar and I own Exit Consulting. I do hardcore Unix kernel and related work and have worked in FreeBSD, MacOSX (Darwin), Linux (2.4 and 2.6), BSD/OS and NonStop Clusters for Unixware, among others. I've contributed slightly to FreeBSD and I maintain a handful of ports; I also have Open-source code in the OpenSSI project and the Cluster Initiative for Linux (most of the Cluster Membership Service and quite a bit of the Internode Communication Subsystem, among other things). I have also written "ffs2recov," a UFS2 recovery tool, primarily for my own use but if you need it you can find it here. It's not quite ready for prime time but I'm releasing it in the hope that someone will clean it up a bit and make it presentable.
You can find a detailed copy of my résumé at this link. Unfortunately, I'm currently taking no new work, as I have all I can handle in a fulltime position at a certain well-known search company.
If you would prefer to contact me securely, my PGP key is available at the key server or here.
Finally, if you're anywhere near as serious a geek as I am or if you just like cool images of astronomical objects, you'll probably like some of the stuff in my Zazzle gallery Astronomical Objects. An example is there on the left. I've made a bunch of stuff that I would like, to please myself, but if you like space images, particularly stuff from Hubble and Spitzer, you'll probably like it too. Check it out, it's way cool. There are also some black t-shirts there, a few of which I own. The images on these shirts are amazing and look very good, even after being washed a few times.
